Authentic Literature

Lo que sí y lo que no

I’m Really Confused

Author: Verónica Murguía

Illustrated by: Cecilia Rébora

Marcos’ parents tell him: “Don’t eat like a bird” or “Pick

up your things, don’t be a pig.” When they give him

a book about animals, he doesn’t understand why it

seems to contradict what his parents think. The book

says that pigs are not dirty and that birds eat much

more than he does, at least in comparison. Who is

right? The book or his parents?

A perfect book for readers who love books,

especially if they are about animals.

Los aeropuertos

The Airports

Author: Jairo Buitrago

Illustrated by: Juan Mayorga

A lonely traveler arrives at an airport at sunrise and

must take the next flight in the late afternoon. To

spend time, he tours the city and visits various sites.

He finds an animal shelter where he meets Lost, a dog

without an owner, and decides to accompany her the

rest of the day. Although it lasts for one afternoon, the

meeting enriches the lives of both of them.

This endearing meeting is a reflection on solitude

and the places of transit, written by one of the best

authors of children’s and young adult literature,

with the freshness and talent of an excellent

illustrator.
